How To Be Successful In 5 Simple Steps

dave chapple yournetbizHow to be successful in life is something we have all considered at one time or another. So what does it take to be successful in life? Is it good fortune, a little bit of Luck, a lot of hard work, tons of money or a combination of them all; Or is it simply a matter of just “being”?

Well allow me show you what I think it takes to be successful in life
- and it's not all that difficult either. Whatever your opinion, a personal definition of success is a subjective issue and varies from one person to the next. However you define it though, I believe there are certain steps that can be applied to help you be successful in life – whatever you deem that success to be.

Here are my 5 Simple Steps To Be Successful In Life

Inspired by the renowned motivational speaker and master sales trainer Forrest Blankenship (He also happens to be Vice President of Sales for YourNetBiz – which is nice).

Embrace Your Dreams – Whatever your dreams may be it's important to understand that they are achievable. Fame, Jobs, Possessions, Achievements, Money, Love or whatever – It's important to have a dream, your own dream. It doesn't matter how big that dream is, don't let the size intimidate you and don't let others dictate it to you. Your dreams are what will motivate you towards your success - just as soon as you decide to act upon them.

Set Goals - It's important to have something to point to in order to give your dreams purpose - a goal. The most important thing about goals is just simply to have one. A goal is nothing more than a target that is Specific, Measurable and Time Driven whether it be a short, medium or long term goal.

A goal is a means of making your dreams appear a little more tangible and helps define why you are doing what you are doing to achieve success. Set deadlines for your Goals – (They can always be reassessed) and hold yourself accountable for them by rewarding your success and daily accomplishments.

Plan Your Goals - write down everything you will need to do in order to achieve your goals. What skills, knowledge and training are required, what tools do you need and then organise and prioritise your activities accordingly – Must do – Need to – Nice to.

Create a mind map or a goal board so that you can visualise your goals and dreams (Include images and pictures). Create a map of how you are going to reach your goals then create and implement daily and weekly plans to get there. In other words don't just be busy for the sake of it – have a structure and a map to follow.

Take Action – Do not procrastinate. Nothing will change if you just sit on your ass doing nothing towards your success. Get into the discipline of doing something to meet your goals every day. It doesn't matter how small it might be as long as you are taking small manageable steps each and every day. Look at your dream – look at your goal – do something.

The 6 “R”s – It's not all work and no play. On the road to be successful in life, it's important to take some time out to Relax, Reward, Reflect, Recharge, Reaffirm and Refocus, Take some time out for yourself to Relax and unwind. Use this chill-out time as a Reward and to Reflect on what you have achieved up to this point.

This is a time to Recharge your batteries and do no work at all. It's also a good time to Reaffirm your belief in yourself and where you are going – Daily declarations or affirmations in front of a mirror perhaps – and to refocus on your goals. In short, take the day off and don't feel guilty about it !!
